2. What is family and consumer sciences?
This class teaches life skills that you will likely use in personal lives or careers.
This class will be an introduction of these units. If you have interest in learning more, there are classes you can take in high school, college, or skills centers.
This is a CTE course which stands for Career and Technical Education. CTE courses give you skills for college and/or career readiness
There are a lot of “hands-on” activities or labs.

4. CTE SAFETY LETTER
This is required to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to me.
If you do not turn it in, you CANNOT use the kitchens or sewing machines.
This will be the first thing in the gradebook. To get a 4, this must be returned by Sept 15th. To get a 3, this must be returned by Oct 5th. To get a 2, this must be returned by Oct 31st.
If you do not have this letter turned in, you will be given an alternate assignment for the Sewing and Kitchen units.
RIGHT NOW, Write Ms. McAllister on the line for Instructor’s Name. Write your first and last name on the line for Student’s Name.

Listen to the teacher during directions. I tell you everything you need to know before starting any activity. If you have further questions, I will answer them.

9. There will be an entry task on the board EVERY DAY
There will be an entry task on the board EVERY DAY! There are entry task sheets (yellow or white) each week for you to record your entry task. If it is a worksheet or other task that you don’t need to write, please note that on your entry task.

10. Come to class prepared EVERY DAY
Come to class prepared EVERY DAY! Even with the Chromebooks, you may need paper and a pencil in class.

11. Just ask before taking anything
Just ask before taking anything. That includes borrowing stuff from me and from your classmates. You are also responsible for returning anything you borrow.

Do not touch anything in the kitchens unless instructed to do so by Ms. McAllister
Respect the stuff in this room. My desk area is off limits.
When teacher is speaking, do not get out of your seat for any reason.

You will get with a partner. Each partner group will get one whiteboard and one marker. You must guess which one is the lie. You get 1 point for each correct answer.
You are responsible for keeping track of your points
