5 High school credits Yearlong Course (1.0 credits) Semester Course
By passing all of your classes each semester, you will earn 6.0 credits each year of High School 6 credits x 4 years = 24 total credits A transcript is the official record of your high school classes and credits

This line shows your total earned credits & your cumulative GPA This indicates which state tests you have passed This indicates if you have passed WA State History

7 Registration Process Course Registration Presentation
Students complete their Registration Worksheet – due Thursday in SCOTS Parents will approve course requests at conferences Counselor will create your schedule Students typically get their schedules at the end of the summer

8 Course request expectations
The master schedule is developed based on courses requested. When you request a course, you commit to completing the course in its entirety to the best of your ability. Students may request a schedule change before the end of the first week of school but only requests based on legitimate academic reasons will be considered. Course changes after the first week of a course will result in an “F” posted to the student’s transcript.

9 Course alternative Selections
Students must write 4 alternates in case your first choices aren’t available All 4 alternates must be different than your original choices Choose wisely – be thoughtful!

Yearlong Course: College in the High School – CWU English Series (ENG101, ENG102, ENG105) English 12 – Essential English Semester Courses: Introduction to Theatre (College Prep Course) Speech & Research (College Prep Course) European Authors (College Prep Course) Short Stories Literature in Lyrics Latino Literature Greek Mythology

12 Math sequences Algebra 1 Geometry Financial Algebra Algebra 2
Pre-calculus Calculus Math 101 & 103 Math sequences Most students will take math their senior year ALL students planning to attend post-secondary school (college, university, community college, technical school, etc.) should take a 4th year of math

13 College in the high school
College in the High School is a state funded way for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit and fulfill their high school graduation requirements all at the same time.  Students have the opportunity to earn college credits from Central Washington University Cost: $55/credit Students that are eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch can apply to have 5 credits paid for by a grant GEARUP can help with costs.  Please see Ms. Walker or Mrs. Mayfield for questions.

A score of 4 on the SBAC will also qualify a senior to take the class. English 102 – Reasoning  & Research Pass English 101 with a “C-“ or higher English 105 – The Literary Imagination 5 $275 Theatre 107 – Intro to Theatre None Math 101 – Math in the Modern World $275  Pass Algebra 2 with a “C” or higher and take the Accuplacer exam the spring before enrolling Math 130 – Finite Math Math 153 – Precalculus 1 Pass Algebra 2 with a “C” or higher and take the Accuplacer exam the spring before enrolling Math 154 –Precalculus 2 Pass Algebra 2 with a “C” or higher and take the Accuplacer exam the spring before enrolling  Math 172 – Calculus 1 Pass Math 154 with a “C” or higher Math 173 – Calculus 2

15 Business Administration
YVTECH Provides free academic and hands-on college prep & technical skills career training to high school students in the Yakima Valley Students attend YVTECH for periods 1-3 or 4-6 (transportation provided for afternoon) The following programs are available: Pre-Engineering Auto Collision Auto Technology Dental Hygiene Dental Assisting Law Enforcement Cosmetology Carpentry Digital Media Culinary Arts Firefighting Robotics Vet Assistant Physical Therapy Tech Electrician Business Administration Metal Fabrication Legal/Medical Office 

16 Running Start RUNNING START INFO NIGHT - Monday, March 27th @ 6pm
Juniors and Seniors have the option of participating in the Running Start Program. Running Start students are eligible for part-time or full-time enrollment at YVCC. All tuition is paid but students have to provide their own transportation and pay for fees and books.
