2 Measuring Utensils

3 Dry Measuring Cups Used to measure dry ingredients such as flour and sugar. The usually come in a set of ¼ cup, 1/3 cup, ½ cup, and 1 cup.

4 Liquid Measuring Cups Often clear plastic or glass. They have a spout for pouring and measurements marked on the side in cups, ounces, and milliliters. Common sizes are 1 cup, 2 cups, and 4 cups

5 Measuring Spoons Used for measuring smaller amounts of liquid and dry ingredients. The most common sizes are ¼ teaspoon, ½ teaspoon, 1 teaspoon, and 1 tablespoon

6 Mixing Utensils and Equipment

7 Mixing Bowls Hold the ingredients that you mix an come in graduated sizes; made of glass, plastic, or metal

8 Mixing Spoons Have long handles and are used to combine ingredients; made of metal, wood, plastic, or silicone

9 Plastic Scraper Used to mix ingredients and scrape batter off the side of the bowl; made of metal, wood, plastic, or silicone

10 Pastry Blender Used to cut shortening into flour for pie crusts and biscuits

11 Wire Whisks Used for beating and blending; efficient in combining liquid ingredients and beating eggs

12 Blender Used to mix ingredient together until smooth; used for smoothies and milkshakes

13 Hand Mixer Electric with beaters; used to combine ingredients for batters

14 Other Kitchen Utensils

15 Cutting Boards Serve as a base for your cutting work, keeping knife blades sharp and counters in good shape.

16 Graters Used to shred and grate vegetables and cheeses

17 Kitchen Shears Sturdy scissors kept in the kitchen and used for cutting vegetables, pastry, poultry, and meat. Always wash shears with soap and warm water after use

18 Vegetable Peeler Used to pare vegetables and fruits; some have blades that swivel for ease in paring

19 Colander Bowls with holes for draining foods, such as cooked pasta

20 Slotted Spoon Helpful for lifting solid food from liquid; like separating vegetables from their cooking juices

21 Metal Spatula Have dull, narrow blades; useful in leveling dry ingredients such as flour in a measuring cup

22 Turner Used to lift and turn foods such as pancakes or burgers

23 Tongs Grasp or hold foods such as a chicken drumstick or corncob

24 Ladle Help spoon out hot soups or stews

25 Cooling Rack Made of wire and allow air to circulate around hot baked products so that they cool evenly.

26 Rolling Pin Used to roll out and flatten dough (for cookies, pies, pizza, etc)

27 Can Opener Can be handheld or electric; used to open cans

28 Cookie Scooper A small scoop that enables you to create cookies of uniform shape/size

29 Apple Corer Used to take the core out of apples and cut apples into slices

31 Cake Pan Come in many shapes and sizes and used for baking many foods; can be made of glass, metal, or silicone

32 Baking Sheet Rectangular, low sided pans most often used for baking cookies and making sweets

33 Custard Cup Made from heatproof glass; used to bake custard or microwave eggs; can be used to aid in food prep

34 Pot Holders/Oven Gloves
Used to take hot items out of microwave, oven, or off stove top

35 Hot Pad Used on tables or counter tops to put hot items on so it does not burn the surface of table/counter

36 Griddle A flat surface that can be heated to certain temperatures; used to cook pancakes, French toast, eggs, etc

37 Pizza Pan Metal pan used to bake pizzas or other items
