3 10 th Grade Schedule  Refer to the course list on the back of your form  New course offerings are indicated with an asterisk (*)  Refer to course catalog online at www.cusd.com/students/  Write selected course number in the Number column

4 10 th Grade Schedule English 10 Write in the course number next to the English course choice. Honors English 10:  A or B in Hnrs Eng 9 or A in Eng 9  Teacher recommendation

5 10 th Grade Schedule PE  Write in the number next to Physical Education choice. Sports PE- write course number for your specific sport (.A,.B, etc.)  Dance PE- Will meet Core PE requirement  Students who wish to take 2 electives, creating an impacted schedule, may take lunch or zero period PE  Fine Art electives do not count towards an impacted schedule

6 10 th Grade Schedule History  Write in the course number for World History AP World History  A or B in Hnrs Eng 9 or Eng 9  Teacher recommendation

7 AP Courses  Student should have: solid work ethic, self motivated, solid reading, writing and thinking skills  Students taking AP courses are expected to take the AP exam in May  AP courses may include a summer assignment  Students will be required to complete the CNEC AP Agreement form before being enrolled  Students will not be allowed to enroll in additional AP courses once school starts!

8 World History in Summer School  There is an option for students with impacted schedules to take this course during summer school.  Fine Art electives do not count towards an impacted schedule  Meeting or Exceeding Standards on SBAC ELA

9 10 th Grade Schedule Math  Write in the course number next to the Math course choice.  Students are placed in math classes based on teacher recommendation and semester grade, as well as other criteria.  Honors Math 2- placement test given in Math 1 class to students earning As

10 10 th Grade Schedule Science  Write in the course number next to the Science course choice.  Honors Biology- As in Science 1 & Math 1  Students who have completed Biology may move on to Chemistry  Honors Chemistry- A in Biology and A in Math 2

11 10 th Grade Schedule Electives  Write the course number in the box provided  Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year.  All students will need to choose 2 Alternate Elective courses.

12 World Language  Spanish and French are offered  2 years of World Language is required by the CSU/UC system

13 Other Elective Options Performing Arts  Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A)  Applications were due Jan. 29 th which included all teacher recommendations (Peer Counseling, Leadership,& Yearbook)

14 AVID  AVID is an elective class offered to motivated students who would like to prepare for four-year universities.  The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note- taking and study skills, as well as college, career, and motivational activities.  Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis.  Helpful for students who struggle with time management/organization  Other requirements for applicants are satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, G.P.A. of 2.5-3.8.

15 Academic Intervention Study Skills (English Lab):  to provide intervention and support and assist students in English based curriculum focused on ensuring growth in reading, writing, and vocabulary  to provide organizational skills and study strategies  Placement:  students who score a 2 on the English portion of the SBAC test  teacher recommendation Math Tutorial  Students may be recommended by their math teacher for this intervention class  It is an additional math class for students who would benefit from support in Math 1

16 Summer School  Students planning to apply to a 4 year college should repeat any semester grades of D.  Students who received an F should repeat those courses over the summer to meet graduation requirements  Be sure to indicate which course you need to repeat on your registration form under Summer School Plans

17 Summer School Purpose: Summer school is primarily designed for remediation or making up deficiencies toward graduation. Location: Clovis North High School Dates:Independent Study Summer School Dates: June 21st-July 27th (students cannot miss orientation on June 14 th or 15 th ) Regular Summer School Dates: June 20 th -July 28th Time: 8:30am-2:35pm Attendance: Students will be dropped on their 2 nd absence. No exceptions will be made.

18 Additional Information  Refer to your course catalog online  Remember- the catalog includes courses offered at all High Schools in CUSD.  Take home these materials and review them with your parents  No parent signature = no registration!  AP contracts will be due at registration  Registration form is due to your English teacher on Feb 26th  Registration will be on Feb 29th and March 1 st in the Library Lecture Hall.
