10.  Why did you choose this profession? ~ I chose to be an educator after working in my family’s business for 14 years. In the past, I had taught kids at church and I became burdened with a “higher calling in my life. I pursued my teaching degree while working three jobs but, no regrets!

11.  Why did you choose elementary school? ~ I wanted to teach on a grade level that I felt I would influence kids. In elementary school there are few male teachers. I was confident that would be where I be most effective since many kids do not have a positive male model in their lives.

12.  What are the challenges/rewards of your job? ~ Challenges: - Teaching unmotivated children - Meeting state requirements for the CRCT - Parents (sometimes)

13.  What are the challenges/rewards of your job? ~ Rewards: - Knowing that what I do each day is impacting children for life. - When a child says “thank you” for all that you do for me. - The connections and relationships I make with students, teachers, and parents - Summers off!!!!

14.  How much time a week do you spend doing lesson plans? ~ It’s difficult to say how much time I spend on lesson plans. What I try to do is daily reflect on what was successful/unsuccessful in my classes and make notes to develop more effective lesson plans the next week. I would guess around 2-3 hours.
