What Does It Take to Get Into College?  University of Maryland receives approximately 28,000 applications for a class of 4,000.  NWHS students who were accepted in 2015 had an average GPA of 3.78 and SAT of  Towson University receives over 18,000 applications for a class of 3,000.  NWHS students who were accepted in 2015 had an average GPA of 3.26 and SAT of  Mount St. Mary’s University receives over 6,000 applications for a class of 500.  NWHS students who were accepted in 2015 had an average GPA of 3.00 and SAT of 1497.

Earning college credit while in high school with Montgomery College For a successful MC experience, high school juniors should: have a minimum 3.0 GPA be prepared to take the SAT or ACT as early as March or April with qualifying scores of a minimum 500 SAT Critical Reading | 500 Math or 21 ACT Math | 21 ACT English be prepared to take the Accuplacer for college level placement if no college test scores are available Things to consider: Have you taken advantage of the rigorous curriculum offered at Northwest? Colleges place a great deal of importance on the course content taken at the high school level. Do you have a transportation plan for getting to campus? Transportation is the responsibility of the student. Cost? Montgomery County students may be eligible for a reduction in cost but cost and payment may still be a deciding factor. Interested? Ask for the brochure today! Student Interest Forms in the brochure MUST be returned to counselors by February 16 to receive the Dual Enrollment Application. Application due date: February 22

Registering for classes online This year, all students will be registering for classes online at home. Follow the Powerpoint that can be found on the Northwest Website. It will guide you through the steps of registering online. Under the quick links tab, click on Northwest HS Registration to view the Powerpoint.

Important Deadlines  Complete Registration online by Monday, February 15 th  Registration Card due back…..  9 th grade: bring with you to the counseling office (February 16 th, 17 th and 19 th )  10 th and 11 th grade: return to English teacher by Tuesday, February 16 th

Important Deadlines cont.  You will receive a letter in May that lists the courses you have requested. You must alert the counseling office at Northwest by June 1 st if you want to make any changes to your schedule for the school year.
