YRO Outreach Seminar No Seminar to be held in 2009 Interest shown by Spain, Switzerland for 2010 Aims for to 25 participants 6 returning YROs to staff Host nation to source and provide accommodation, food and local logistics Participating nations to provide transport to/from, and promote Seminar at home

YROW 2009 Programme agreed by committee Facilitated policy development over three days Output to be presented to Symposium break-out groups to kick-off and stimulate discussion Facilitators to collate findings and submit conclusions to YRO Chair within one month of YROW end – ensure good quality product. Advantages Clear integration with main CIOR agenda Raising profile of junior officer input Challenging junior officers to not only think but brief and drive forward debate amongst senior officers Broaden the exposure to all symposium themes Challenges Increase time requirement – mitigated by use of facilitators Identifying suitable candidates for facilitator roles (x 4) Identification of suitable speakers, not necessarily military focussed

YRO in Development Clear identification of positive output to YRO in CIOR through proposition paper Identify scope for YRO development through CIOR YRO “Platform” Re-structure of YROW programme Welcome pack Recruit and retain future CIOR committee members

YRO “Platform” Has been informally proposed to YRO Committee by various nations A brand new concept To provide continuing professional development for YROs who have attended YROW on at least two occasions Designed to encourage longer CIOR participation Retention positive Develop YRO international inter-operability

Challenges Ensuring a continuing relationship between individual YROs, their national delegations and CIOR Ensuring broad and timely distribution of committee communications within national reserve armed forces Effective forward planning for hosting future Outreach Seminars and Platform events Enhancing YRO participation in core CIOR events and discussions Promote the benefit of CIOR as a career enhancing experience Positively communicating to national chain of commands the clear influence that YRO events can have on developing operationally capable future leaders

Costs Analysis Outreach Seminar 2010 Host nation to bear accommodation, food and local logistics Participating nations to fund travel to/from Seminar location Seminar fee to be kept to a minimum but, intended to cover majority of host nation costs. YROW 2009 Bulgaria to include YROW costs within overall programme budget All YROW activities, as referenced in SOP, to be borne by the YROW registration fee. YRO Platform Host nation to bear costs for accommodation, food and local logistics Registration fee to be kept to a minimum but, should cover a majority of host nation costs (TBC)

YRO Needs You!! Encourage your junior officers to participate in any of the YRO events Council to approve further development of YRO “Platform” initiative Positive support to YROW integration into CIOR Symposium VPs requested to complete YRO questionnaire prior to Summer Congress Offers of host nations for Outreach Seminar or “Platform” greatly appreciated
