2 DEFENCE ATTITUDES AND SECURITY ISSUES COMMITTEE (DEFSEC) The Chairman COMITÉ DES STRATÉGIES INDIRECTES ET DES QUESTIONS DE SÉCURITÉ (DEFSEC) Le Président DEFSEC mission statement DefSec, as a committee, is and remains : A “think and do tank” for all defence and security matters where reserves come to play, Propagating not just ideas and concepts, but high value added products: parts of Symposia, position papers, executive workshops, staff rides, boss lifts, etc. Open to adhoc partnerships with defence and security thinktanks; Helping CIOR to become a partner of choice for defence & security policy matters for the Alliance.

6 DEFENCE ATTITUDES AND SECURITY ISSUES COMMITTEE (DEFSEC) The Chairman COMITÉ DES STRATÉGIES INDIRECTES ET DES QUESTIONS DE SÉCURITÉ (DEFSEC) Le Président Boss Lift – hands-on Employer Support for Reservists Definition Taking the managers of reservists, to a hands-on, 2 day action event (training or operation), performing hands-on military activities with their own “reservist-employees”. Case for action ✔ Fuel employer support of reservists ✔ Promote skills acquired by reservists during their military activities: Discipline, loyalty, enthousiasm, team spirit, Specific to CIOR: multinational, cross-cultural player. ✔ Evidence corporate citizenship nature of reserve activities ✔ Develop and enhance Defence/Enterprise partnerships based on demonstrated reservist and corporate skills ✔ Promoting the overall value of armed forces and reconversion of military to the civilian world, strengthening the link between armies and societies. ✔ Successful track record in Australia, Canada, the UK and several other countries Implementation horizon 2009 for pilot / test

Desired outcome ✔ Expand the footprint of CIOR « products », in synergy with the Congress, the Symposium and other CIOR assets (eg competition, legal, etc.) ✔ Develop a cadre of international ambassadors in support of reserves and defence ✔ Introduce fresh perspectives from top executives from private business, public and military worlds ✔ Identify resource for national Employer Support Programs ✔ Provide potential speakers/panelists and topics for future CIOR symposiums ✔ Provide a peer networking opportunity Implementation horizon 2010 Congress in Stavanger
