4 MC 248/2-CIOR Objectives Improve NATO understanding of CIOR goals and activities by informing NATO Authorities and briefing the MC To increase cooperation between NATO and CIOR To promote the skills and capabilities of reserves from a CIOR perspective To promote NATO participation in CIOR seminars etc. To improve the knowledge of NATO on the potential of reserves To utilise CIOR knowledge of reserve affairs for reserve to inspire Reserve forces transformation

5 MC 248/2-CIOR Liaison between NATO and CIOR The IMS is the poc for all military matters These poc act as source of information and advice to NATO IMS provides facilities for CIOR’s Perm Rep (BEL) CIOR Presidency normally briefs the MC once a year

6 MC 248/2-CIOR CIOR and NRFC (NATO Reserve Forces Committee) Common interest in securing the quality of reserve forces Their work should be complementary The work conducted in a spirit of partnership NRFC provides appropriate advice and support to CIOR NRFC advises the MC in accordance to protocol documents Conclusion The MC recognizes the value of CIOR and supports CIOR activities

9 Defense Attitudes and Security Issues Committee In short “DefSec” is the “think and do-tank” for all defense and security matters where the reserves come to play: To deliver value added products: symposiums, leadership WS To advise, at request the member nations’ MoD’s on their reserve policies To prepare panel discussions during CIOR summer congresses and other key events To collect the output of CIOR events and prepare high level proceeding, papers and reports

10 CIMIC Committee The CIMIC Committee provides advice from CIOR perspective on the best utilization of reservists within the CIMIC scope and a think tank for discussions regarding Reserve and CIMIC matters The committee is focused on two main products: The CIMIC Capabilities Handbook which captures the organization’s structure of participating countries and to describe their doctrine and training CIMEX The first CIMEX was held in 2012 UK is the CIMEX framework country for 2012,2013 and 2014 The aim of CIMEX : To encourage networking, information sharing, to identify the best practice and provide education

11 MILCOMP The Military Competition Committee provides advanced military skills training, leadership development, physical challenge, intercultural experience and international friendship by staging the annual CIOR Military Competition. Committee Tasks Plan and execute the CIOR Military Pentathlon in accordance with the existing regulations. Proceed with efforts for obtaining NATO accreditations on MilComp. Milcomp must remain a true test of combat effectiveness and therefore provides value for military commanders

12 PfP and Outreach Committee CIOR’s PfP & O Committee holds an annual workshop or seminar for Partner members, which is held in Partner countries. This activity is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the Alliance, as well as to gain a better understanding of the structure and organization of reserve forces and associations within the Alliance. Committee Tasks Plan and execute one seminar or workshop annually within a Partner nation. Provide ongoing support and advice to reserve officer associations and ministries of defense on reserve integration issues. Provide advice and guidance to the Presidency concerning all issues pertaining to Partner countries. Be prepared to execute additional outreach initiatives as directed by Council.

13 CLA The CLA provides education to foreign students in English and French language It gives a rare opportunity to foreign students to gain special knowledge that could be applied to their respective reserve units.

14 LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE Provides legal advice to Council Updates Council on legal issues Plans and executes the Law of Armed Conflict stand at the Military Competition and the YROW WS

15 YROW Committee mission – to provide 3 key events: YRO Workshop –designed to be a junior officer first exposure to multi-national environment and colleagues from NATO and PfP countries YRO Outreach Seminar – it assists with the integration of junior reserve officers from emerging NATO/PfP nations into CIOR Experienced Reserve Officers Platform – a post YRO WS course, which is currently under development, which is designed to enhance the military skills of reservists with rank OF-1 and OF-2.

16 Winter Seminar Committee Committee Tasks Plan and execute annual Winter Seminar in accordance with the direction of Council. Continue investigation and subsequent negotiation to relocate the Winter Seminar to Brussels.

17 The Symposium WG Mission The Symposium Working Group provides the Summer Congress with a day-long symposium that achieves the goal of professional development,, information, and ideas for further discussion and integration into a legacy deliverable to be developed under the leadership of one of CIOR's "think tank" committees. It facilitates the attraction of exceptional presenters and speakers that are true experts in their fields as relates to CIOR’s annual theme which is provided by the CIOR Presidency and Council. It provides symposium facilities It provides communications and coordination, to ensure that accurate, relevant and comprehensive information is provided to all of the key participants and stakeholders.
