Presentation transcript:

"Sometimes you can't see yourself clearly until you see yourself through the eyes of others. " — Ellen DeGeneres

Taylor Swift – Taylor Swift has portrayed a humble and positive attitude toward all. She inspires thousands of people through her song lyrics and creates music full of fearlessness and passion that many can relate to, especially your everyday teenager. I believe she encourages young teenagers to love their imperfections and believe in themselves so they can overcome anything. Scale – Dove commercials goal is to inspire young girls of all age that they are beautiful no matter what their flaws are. This commercial wants girls to grasp that inner beauty is so much more important then what's on the outside. On the scale the words are printed in German, but the message is “Real beauty is not measured in kgs”. Ellen – I believe one of Ellen’s most important messages she is trying to get across is to be who you are, nobody else. If that means you get judged or made fun of that is ok because you just need to persevere and rise above the obstacle because you need to believe in yourself. Ellen’s Quote – This quote means that even if all you see in the mirror are your flaws you should look at how others would see your personality and values that shape who you are in the inside and not focus on the imperfections but see how those make you in positive ways. “Hates Her Freckles” - I chose this picture because this young girl is already focusing on how she looks and comparing herself to how models look. Her freckles are a part of her that make her individuality and just because models in magazines and billboards may not look like her this young girl should ignore that influence and have confidence in herself. Young Girl Surrounded By Ads - This picture clearly displays the negative influences and pressure girls are under to look a certain way. It shows the negative aspects of commercials and modelling that our everyday society encourages on people to look a particular way. Amy Winehouse – This women is a very negative influence. She is a celebrity and is always in the press but only for her very bad habits like drugs and drinking, not her singing. Many girls may be singing to her music and looking up to what she does which is not right but they may think it is since a celebrity is doing those things.

Woman Getting Botox – This picture is a negative influence because cosmetic surgeries are being promoted everywhere to enhance ones looks because they are not comfortable with themselves. They feel the need to enhance their looks when they should embrace who they are. Model Before And After – This picture is a negative and positive influence as it shows the model what she looked like before she went into the photo shoot and then how she looked by the end of the process. It shows how much models cover up what they really have and all their flaws to give teenagers the idea that they are perfect, when we live in the world where no one is perfect. Model Getting Make Up Applied - This picture shows how much covering up and time that goes into making one models face look perfect. Is shows that this isnt truly what they look like and makes many realize how face and untrue the advertising industry is.
