Unit 9: Lesson 3 Target/Objective: I can covert fractions to decimals using a calculator.

Math Message Use the calculator to divide the numerators of the following fractions by the denominators: 1/2, 3/4, 4/5, & 6/10 What do you notice?? The calculator displays the decimal name Example: ½ or 1 divided by 2 = 0.5 One way to rename a fraction as a decimal is to divide its numerator by its denominator.

Practicing with a Calculator Materials: Worksheet, calculator, and pencil Directions: Convert the fractions to decimals – Some of the decimals will continue forever; stop after the 6 th decimal place. Voice Level: 0 Time: 7 minutes
