Hypomanic Episodes- mild manias Bipolar is a brain disorder that causes shift in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. Bipolar I- mixed episodes that last as long as 4 months and are so severe that they need immediate hospital care. Bipolar II- a pattern of depressive episodes shifting back and forth with hypomanic episodes,

Ethiology  Bipolar Disorder is hereditary.  If a family member does not have Bipolar Disorder it does not mean that you will not be able to get it. Bipolar starts in the late adolescence or early adulthood, but children can also have the disorder. Community studies estimate lifetime prevalence of bipolar spectrum to be between 0%- 3% among adolescence.
