Cataloguing Three ways to contribute data CBS software: Release 3.2 (Nov. 2007) –Z39.50 access to remote cataloguing sources –Positioned us for offline duplicate removal CBS software: Release 4.1 (Dec. 2008) –SRU Update for synchronisation with WorldCat –Improvements to cataloguing client A major activity for 2009 will be supporting adoption of RDA

The Australian National Bibliographic Database Currently 19M bibliographic records, 44M holdings Offline duplicate record removal now operational Undertook an ANBD Coverage Survey in August and September

Document Delivery Last year: 307,000 ILL requests (up 10%) CISTI: 14,000 requests met, 145,000 searches VDX software: Release (Nov. 2008) –drop down action menu –numerous bug fixes and minor improvements

Relationship with OCLC Support for CBS and VDX software Collaborative Services Agreement: –running for 16 months –searches of WorldCat now 850,000 per year –gap load of WorldCat (in preparation) Discussions commenced on ILL network interconnection Governance Complementary service delivery: eg OCLC Collection Analysis Service

Customer support Membership is steady: 1250 customer libraries Help Desk activity RefTracker software

ERA Current status More flexible licensing cycle The future: –new products –improved contractual model –goal of integration with discovery

Search There were 14.3M searches in 2007/08 (increase of 13% on previous year) Stability of Libraries Australia Search Release 2.4 of (first half of 2009) –Copyright status –numerous minor improvements and bug fixes

Other NLA discovery services Australian Newspapers Beta Renovated ARROW Discovery Service Recent changes to Music Australia The Library’s strategy is to integrate all of its discovery services through the Single Business Discovery Project (commenced August 2008)
