1. 3Ds DHCAL m 3 modular structure. 2. Basic modular distribution. 3. Guiding and repositioning system. 4. Detector layer. 5. Extraction of the detector’s layers. 6. Budget of Materials for the 1 m3 absorber. 7. Next steps. 1.- Index.

g sense 1.- 3Ds DHCAL m 3 modular structure. The 3D of DHCAL m 3 modular structure: -Composed by 40 layer of approximately 28 mm thinness, 20 mm of them are absorber. -Each detector layer have 3/6 DIF Board, 2 gas pipes and guide rails. -The gravity sense is shown on the pictures. -This modular ‘cassette’ structure can be used with MICROMEGAS and GRPC technologies. -A external structure can be fixed to this module by the M10 screws sited on the spacers pieces.

The layout distribution is modular. And can be piled as many layer as we need to assembly 1 m 3 module. The basic repeat units it is composed by two 28 mm layers (Showed on the figures) The absorber structure is composed by: -Absorber layer (White color). -Top and Bottom Spacers (Blue color), between absorber. With 2 Pins Holes on the extremes, to align layers. -Support-absorber plates of the active modules (navy blue). 2.- Basic modular distribution.

Layer distributions: (Theoretical dimensions) -Absorber 14 mm. -Clearance ~1 mm. -1 M2 of detector 11.5~12 mm. (Support-absorber of the detector 2 x 2~3 mm). -Clearance ~1 mm.

Details of the guiding system. The rails are fix on the 14 mm absorber. Attachment device. To minimize clearance. Are fixed on the top and bottom spacers. Final range Pin. To permit repositioning. 3.- Guiding and repositioning system. Each detector module it is supported on the 14 mm absorber by 6 wheels. The 6 wheels are fixed on the support- absorber plates of the detector.

Each detector plate it is supported on the 14 mm absorber structure by 6 pieces (with 6 wheels), fixed between both 2~3 mm support- plates of the detector by M3 screws.

Detector layer units: Compose by 1 m 2 detector (green color) and 2 x 2~3 mm support absorber plates. The plates-support of the detector have fixed 6 auxiliary pieces (blue color) with wheels to extract the layer from the absorber, how a cassette. 4.- Detector layer.

Detector layer under extraction. 5.- Extraction of the detector’s layers. To can do that it is needed put the attachment device on the extraction position and extract the detector layer.

Ciemat prevision cost: Stainless Steel plates on AISI 304 and 304L. (Not optimal from the point of view of B field) The budget include supply 45 machined plates of 14 mm thinness, according those drawings: 1145 eur/plate (VAT included). The cost of the sliding guides can be about 15 keur to 40 keur. (It must be redesign to cheapen the budget) Rest of pieces about 20 keur. 6.- Budget of Materials for the 1 m3 absorver.

Fix the design: Dimension of different absorber plates. Needed tolerances. Number of layer. Redesign the sliding guides to cheapen the budget. Position tolerances needed for the active layer. Include survey/photogrammetry target on the active layers to verify its 3D positions. External frame support structure: Need to be adapt to an existing base system. Environment of manipulation. Fabrication schedule. Limits of Delivery time for the module. Ciemat’s workshop rebuilding. Will take 6-9 months. Search for external workshop. 7.- Next steps.
