Status of the tools being built at ciemat (1). Manufacture of the following tools is in progress at CIEMAT workshops (according to the drawings supplied by Patrick Perrin, J.François Millot and Loris Scola) One tool unit for the gamma catcher. Two rotation tools units. Will be ready in a couple of weeks. Expected to be delivered to Saclay by end of October. Ready. To be delivered to Saclay by end of October. Preassembly and verification of these tools is planned at CIEMAT during the first week of October. Engineers from Saclay will participate in this process. Plans of the pressure test (2). We are planning to do tests with a PMT, fully assembled with mechanical support structure and magnetic shielding, inside a box which we will fill with oil. In this box we will provide enough pressure to simulate the conditions that the system will have in Double Chooz. The level of pressure, in the worst case at the detector will be aprox 0,5 kg/cm2, which we will obtain by using an oil column of 7 meters high. The box will have an acrylic transparent door so that we can observe if there are any effects. We plan to verify the PMT´s with different orientations (5 are foreseen). And maybe perform a long term test. We should be able to appreciate deformations, or movements, of the supports at the level of milimeters by simply having some reference marks in the walls of the box. Suggestions to make other tests with this system are welcome. Double Chooz collaboration meeting at Oxford

This proposal is in agreement with the concentrator and shielding requirements. -Magnetic Shielding Ø 300 mm. -Distance from the top of the PMT to the Magnetic Shielding is 55 mm. Lastest distribution of the PMTs on the Buffer. This picture summarized the lastest distribution of the PMTs studied with the MC simulation. From the point of view of the integration this distribution have interference problem on those three positions. This imply that it is necessary move the theoretical position of the PMTs on those point as minimum as possible. Double Chooz collaboration meeting at Oxford

Next steps. With the optimal PMT distribution from MC simulation, finalize the PMTs support structure on the Buffer. Design of the mechanical devices to permit machine/weld the different fixation points on the buffer with the acceptable tolerance. Optimize the fabrication process of the different mechanical PMT support pieces. Detailed step by step Cleaning Procedure for the PMT mechanical support pieces, following the TDR. Define the assembly procedure for the PMTs support pieces. Define installation process of the PMTs on the buffer. Define the tooling necessary for those Jobs.
