Storytelling Sharing your personal experiences

The Rules True About you

Develop a story plan You must be able to identify the following: Characters are the people in the story Dialogue is the words spoken by the characters Plot is the events that happen Conflict is a problem in the story Climax is the highest point of action in the story

Develop a storytelling style Point of view can be first person (I), second person (you) or third person (he or she). Animation means that gestures, facial expressions, body language, and vocal variety are used.

Consider the story structure Narration is telling the events which happen in the story. Fiction stories are not true. Non fiction stories are true. Colorful language describes sights, sounds, smells, touch, and taste (the senses).

Transitional Phrases Connectives are words and phrases that bring two ideas together. Examples are once upon a time, a long time ago, shortly afterward, and before. Try to saying and then too much. Try to avoid saying and then too much.

Mood is Important Mood is the emotional feeling about a story. Examples of mood are mysterious, humorous, gloomy, suspenseful, cheery, hopeful, etc.

Choose the best story You should be familiar with the plot You should feel comfortable with the emotional parts of the story You should enjoy the story You should choose a story you think the audience will enjoy as well

Express Yourself!! Vary your voice, posture, facial expressions, and gestures for different characters. Make direct eye contact Make sure your story has a rhythm that is appropriate for the mood. Don’t memorize word for word, just remember the order of events.

Most of all... Have fun!!!
