Duchess of Bedford (Anna Maria Russell) was born on 3 September She was the daughter of Charles Stanhope 3rd Earl of Harrington and Jane Fleming. She was the wife of Francis Russell.

Anna Russell was extremely hungry. She couldn’t stand the „sinking feeling” So her butler had an idea to serve her something to eat. Unfortunately, it was 5 p.m and there was hardly anything in the kitchen.

Anna Maria’ s meal was tea with milk, butter cookies called scones and small sandwiches with cucumber.

One Duchess’ caprice in the past and now all the United Kingdom drinks tea at 5 p.m.

In Englad a lot of people drink traditional English tea at special ‘English Tea Party’.
