2 Meeting Needs 1. Physical Needs –Rest Naps, bedtime 2. Food –Nutritious food, avoid choking foods (peanuts, popcorn, hot dogs, etc)

3 3. Clothing –Daily change, frequent diaper changes 4. Bath Time –Frequent bathing, check temperature of water, never leave alone

4 5. Health Care –Good dental care, brushing teeth, doctor exams, vaccination Immunizations are: –Vaccines developed to prevent specific diseases, such as polio, diptheria, measles

5 6. Illness Requires soft foods, lots of liquids Dehydration –Too low on fluids

6 Intellectual Needs Important to play games and stimulate creativity Changing toys so they don’t become bored

7 Emotional Needs Listen attentively, praise child’s efforts, quickly comfort, accept child’s fears, give hugs

8 Social Needs Interacting with children and provide them opportunities to interact with other children Sharing Toys and taking turns

9 Moral Needs Develop sense of right and wrong, basic values like fairness, justice, and empathy **taught by example, better than preaching

10 Guiding Behavior Promote good behavior –Model appropriate behavior –Not hitting and yelling –Use please and thank you and excuse me
