POST-ACCOR renovations until LS2 – DEBRIEFING – Marine Pace, CO3 – 17 September 2015 Input from Chris, Marc, Stephen, Stephane, Wojtek

Recap of Milestones 25 June [CO3]: BE-CO proposal for End Of Life & support (OS, GM/SLEQUIP, FESA2, RDA2, …) 1 September : renovation roadmap provided by EQP Groups 17 September [today]: debriefing + outline of mismatch between EOL and roadmaps

REMINDER of EOL and Support Strategy proposed by CO at CO3 on 25 June 2015 YETS Freeze of all GM executables End 2016 Stop of non-InCA JAVA AP framework (used by CTF) Mid of LS2 NO 32-bit OS machines (LynxOS + Linux) NO RDA2 communication & proxies NO FESA2 executables NO GM NO SLEQUIP NO X/MOTIF AP

BE-CO END OF LIFE ROADMAP LS2: LHC start CTF stop End of non INCA framework support End of FESA2 framework support End of FESA2 framework support Freeze of GM executables End of FESA2 dev. tools support End of 32-bit machines End of RDA2 & PROX Y End of GM & SLEQUIP End of XMOTIF End of FESA2

Renovation Roadmaps by EQP Groups Roadmap received for almost all systems – Detailed planning available for each FEC – More than 900 FECs concerned – Roadmap provided by 10 EQP Groups [out of 12] BE-BI (370 FECs): first feedback received but NO detailed roadmap (expected end 2015) EN-EL (2 FECs): responsibility change; under discussion. Compilation of all roadmaps done – One file. Shared access to come soon A big thank you for this huge task

Debriefing of renovation plannings & Confrontation with EOL CO EOL: freeze all GM executables by YETS 2015 – CO proposal is NOT acceptable for ABT, BI, RF – ABT, BI, RF: ‘GM code should stay editable until LS2 to accommodate OP/MD requests’ – CO discussion needed to see if /how to relax this constraint because it can be risky. CO EOL: stop of non-InCA JAVA AP fmwk (CTF) by end 2016 – No objection from EQP & OP groups.

Debriefing of Renovation Plannings -2 CO EOL: Stop of RDA2/FESA2/32bit OS/GM/SL/XMotif by mid LS2 EQP Renovation roadmaps are compliant with CO EOL at 95% -> good news For the most obsolete systems [GM, SLEQUIP], some renovation takes place LATE (LS2) -> less good A very few renovations are NOT compliant with EOL -> NOTOK – BI: SPS BLM (#10, LYNXOS): renovation planning is LS3 ! – MSC: B-TRAIN (#3>6) requested to be kept operational beyond LS2 – Discussion now required at Group Management level to review the renovation planning – BE-CO ready to provide help (HW + SW) to EQP GP developments to speed-up the renovation

CO Tools For Renovation MASSIVE Class/Device migrations (GM -> FESA, FESA2 -> FESA3) will take place until LS2 CO tools (FESA instantiation, CCDB migration) to be extensively used Requirements expected for further efficiency, performance, user friendliness Your feedback on improvements is essential as soon as possible

CO tools For RENOVATION FESA Migration tools – Available in Eclipse since end 2014 Able to perform complex code transformation ✗ Some code structures cannot be handled – FESA3 is stable -> priority can be increased on tools improvements, if required – Contact fesa-support for help & feedback on improvements Controls Configuration Service (CCS) tools – Presentation/demo of the new migration tools: October 2015 New tools available since early 2015, but not much used so far outside CO – On-demand training sessions between CCS Support and EQP developer Aim to provide assistance and capture requirements for improvements Developers should contact CCS Support as soon as their new class design is ready for migration tests in our TESTBED

RECAP of Next Actions EDMS, shared-access document with all EQP renovation roadmaps -> Marine BI roadmap needed by end > Lars CO discussion on GM suppport until LS2 (freeze/no freeze of GM executables) -> Marine+Marc Dedicated meetings with Group Management to address the few renovations not compliant with EOL (SPS BLMs, B-TRAINs) -> Marine+Marc Feedback to Configuration Service + FESA tools -> All developers
