To start off the New Year, we are doing a hands on activity of learning equations, and we learning how to solve. Next comes Algebraic expressions. Hope you all had a great Christmas break looks like it is time to work in Math! Science by Joshua Whitley We will learn all about energy conservation through these types of energy: Thermal Energy, potential energy, law of conservation, Kinetic Energy, energy transfer, Convection, Conduction, Radiation, temperature, and Heat. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Language Arts by Mrs. Christian We will be discussing different types of persuasion techniques and how those techniques affect viewers. Students will also get to select a topic of their choice and write a persuasive essay over it focusing on a specific technique. We will also cover different historical fiction readings and poetry this six weeks. We will continue to do our vocabulary study, so be watching for those vocab words to come home. Students will also have their weekly RoW homework as well. Looking forward to another great semester! Christmas and New Year by Brea Rodriguez It is 2016 now! We just had a very fun and exciting Christmas break. Did you get what you wanted for Christmas? Did you stay up all night for New Years? The Botanical Garden light show was amazing and the Christmas lights around town were gorgeous. I hope you all had a very fun and exciting Christmas break, and I hope you got what you wanted. Band by: Kaylee Loya Welcome back! This year we will be covering a new concept called scales and scale karate. You may or may not know what either of those things are, but I will certainly tell you. Scale karate is when we play a scale and hopefully pass every time. Every time you pass a scale, you earn a belt (go up a level). If you get to sensei, you will get to go on a field trip. Social Studies by Kaylee Loya In this unit, we’ll start traveling to Europe. We will most likely learn about the wars, culturalism, and so much more. The countries we will go over are Russia, Germany, France, etc. We’re also going to learn about where these countries are located on the map and review political and physical maps. New Year's Resolutions By:Isaac Mcgill HAPPY NEW YEAR!. Counting down the end of the year and waiting for the ball drop in time square is not the only tradition we follow for New Year's eve. Making a resolution might be the oldest tradition of celebrating the New Year. It became a part of these traditions over two millennia ago during the pre-christian age of Julius Caesar in Rome. Resolutions are goals you make for yourself at the start of the new year as a way to make positive changes in your life. Let’s see what a couple people around Greenways say will be their 2016 New Years resolution.... 6th grader Tyler Miller shared, “I want to help my mom around the house more!” 6th grade teacher Mrs. Christian confessed, “I am going to try harder to be more punctual.” What’s your New Year’s Resolution ? Winter Safety-By Katlyn Jones Winter safety is very important if you think you’re too cool for it then you’re wrong. Did you know that an additional people die per day in the winter season, compared to the summer months? Here are some safety tips. Wear rubber soul shoes, walk slowly, and take small steps when walking on wet or icy sidewalks. Always look out for ice, you may not see it, but it is there. Bundle up this month because it’s going to get very cold and windy. When playing in the snow wear layers of clothing. Don’t forget safety is important your life depends on it. HARMONY by Skylar McCleskey We went on our tour on 12/10/15 and had lots of fun. We went to 2 banks and at one we got 2 dollar bills. Then we went to 3 nursing homes and we also took away 1 song and added 2 more songs we had lots of fun and we are ready to do it again.

Talent Show, Band Performance, and Skate Plex…All so much fun!!
