Period 1990 – 2003 State of Completion 92.3% Budget $3 billion

DNA is the most important molecule we know, also being named ‘ the molecule of life ’. The entire genetic information in every living creature is coded in the sequence of nucleotides that forms the DNA

This is why knowing the sequence of our DNA is so important: in this way we are able to learn about ourselves Many diseases are caused by malfunction of genes, so understanding them can help us treat or even prevent protein damage A certain succession of nucleotides is called a gene, and it will be read by the cell to produce a protein

Only 25% of the DNA has a known function, the rest remaining a mystery. Finding the missing part of the molecule may lead to the understanding of the rest of the functions DNA may possess questions-for-emerging-entrepreneurs/ Sequencing of the DNA has been accomplished for only 92% of its length, so there may still be many secrets waiting to be discovered.

Ever since the DNA has been cracked, we have developed genetic treatment for several conditions, and we have even modified bacteria to produce insulin and other valuable substances

We should stop playing God by interfering in life’s deepest secrets. Nature has evolved over the course of millions of years at its own pace, designing every species perfectly.

Genetic engineering has only led to the use of cells as slave objects of our own selfish purposes. Scientists have been modifying plants and altering bacteria to produce substances too expensive to obtain in a laboratory

Knowledge of our DNA has led some scientists to attempt cloning of cells, tissues or animals. It is even believed that human cloning has been achieved  Unethical  Dangerous

Only positive results are mentioned ! How manyfailed experiments have created dangerous situations for a human being?

We should try to maintain the uniqueness of our bodies Knowing the exact sequence of our DNA will surely lead to losing our identities or special features. from-the-crowd-to-be-successful/ Giving away such large amounts of money for such little potential information is irresponsible! news/latest/safe-green-investments
