UH! Schwa The schwa sound is a vowel sound that usually occurs in an unaccented syllable. Any vowel letter can have the schwa sound /ə/, which sounds a lot like short u. The letter a is most frequently the schwa sound. 2

Sentence Writing We have learned many things that sentences need already. We learned that sentences need to start with capital letters. We learned that sentences end with periods, question marks, or exclamation points. 7

Sentence Writing We also learned that sentences need to have a subject and a predicate. Now we are going to learn how to learn a trick on how to put it all together. When you are writing sentences remember to “call the C.O.P.S.” 8
