 There are no refrigerators in space, so all foods in space are nonperishable. It also has to be easy to make, so they don’t make a mess. No fresh food can be brought into space. Most space food is dehydrated, or freeze-dried and it must be sealed. When the astronaut is hungry, he can add water to rehydrate the food. Even though there is no Fridge, there is an oven. That means astronauts can heat up and bake food. Tortilla sandwiches are often made in Space.

 The Clothing astronauts wear has to be cleaned, inspected, and x-rayed before it is taken into space. It has to be checked for stray pins, needles and anything else pointy. The average temperature in space is about degrees Celsius, so better dress warm! If you ever go to space make sure you wear under clothing!

 Julie Payette went on Space Shuttle Discovery. She blasted off on May 27, 1999 and came back to Earth on June 6, She was a crew member of STS-96. While they were in space the STS-96 crew accomplished 153 orbits around earth. They also traveled over 6 million kilometers in just 9 days, 19 hours and 13 minutes.
