How to reduce CO2 emission while preparing food

An electric cooker should be kept clean - especially hotplate Dirt makes it difficult to flow heat between the hotplate and a pot

Use the pots with flat bottom. It's easy for heat to flow between the hotplate and the bottom of the pot. The best one are those with aluminium or copper bottom

Use as less water as possible while cooking vegetables, meat and other products

Cover the pots while cooking. It helps to save the half of the energy used for preparing food as well as it reduces the amount of heat evaporating from the pot.

Pressure cooker is the best choice It receives the temperature more than 100C so it shortens the time of cooking and reduces energy consumption

Cooking can be finished when the cooker is off. The hotplate is still hot what helps to save the electricity flowing through it for a few more minutes

While using the oven remember not to open it too many times. Limit it. Every opening causes that heat escapes to the atmosphere

Defrost your food earlier. Avoid using microwaves. Take the food out in the evening, put it to the fridge or leave it on the table

Bake responsibly! While baking a tart why don't you reuse a heated oven and bake an apple pie? You will save up to 50% of gas or energy

Turn off the cooker or the oven a few minutes before the dish is ready. Use the remaining heat to finish your cooking

To save energy while cooking, cut vegetables into small pieces. When you are about to cook vegetables or steam them first boil water into kettle than on the cooker, and just use the needed amount of water

Use less water. If you only boil the amount of water you need, you will save a lot of energy. If every European boiled the amount of water they needed, everyone would avoid unnecessary boiling 1 litre of water a day, and saved energy would be enough to light one third of all the street lamps in Europe

Try to prepare more dishes from fresh fruit and vegatables- salads

Thank you for your attention
