Digipacks. Emily Batts

Front View.. TITLE – The title for this album is ‘Myth’. This is a mysterious name, and the colourings used are quite random as the cover is mainly black and white. So with the use of the yellow and red it means that it stands out more against the black background. IMAGE – The image used within this picture is large, and takes up the majority of the CD cover. The background of the case is black, so with the face painted white the image is more eye catching. The picture is unusual which also draws you to the case. This cover contains very little information, there is just someone on the front with a title and a few stencils on it. But with the use of the black and white then a slight hint of colour I think that the cover becomes very striking.

Inside and Back Cover.. IMAGE- The same man is used throughout the images, he is positioned in the centre of the inside case. Unlike before, his whole face is on show though this time not just his side. TITLE- The same font is used here within the title. The style is the same, the size and the colouring used. The repetitiveness creates a label and means that it is recognisable. On the back cover where it lists the songs within the CD they continue to use the orange as well. Something that I have recognised throughout the CD is that the man is always looking towards the title of the album. On the front cover the title is eye level to him and he is facing in its direction and on the inside of the pack the album name is below him and he is looking down towards it. I think that this technique is used as you see he is looking at something so you are drawn to what he is looking at. COLOUR – The same colouring is used throughout the album case. Black, whites, oranges and yellows. The bright colours are used within the names of things, which stands out from the rest. So it is used to highlight it.

Front Cover.. IMAGE – The image used within this front cover is a picture of the artist, he is positioned in the corner so half of his face is cut off, but he is looking towards you. Which makes it seem as if he is looking at you. He uses a disco ball within the picture too, with light reflecting from it. The silver and reflecting light draws you in to the picture. TITLE – The album is called ‘Greatest Hits’ this is positioned underneath the artists name ‘Justin Timberlake’ but it is in a smaller font. By using a smaller font it makes the name of the artist stand out more. The same font is used for both titles, although it is a simple font it is bold and so therefore stands out from the rest. COLOUR – The whole background of this picture is black, because of this most of the disco ball is black except where there is some light reflecting off it. There is a slight hint of colour as there is a little square of red used at the top behind the name at the top.

Inside.. IMAGE – There are several different images used throughout the inside of this cover and they all range in what he is doing. The colouring of what he is wearing is also repeated, he is wearing black and white in all he wears. Which is the colouring used in everything. He also advertises his albums where some of his songs come from. CD – In my opinion the CD looks like an old record. On the right is an example of one. The CD is just black and has the same font on the front again. COLOUR – The colouring is black, white and red. This is used throughout the album, on the front cover and back.

Back Cover.. TITLE – The artists name is repeated again on the back cover and is above the album name in a larger size in the same font like the front cover. The colouring on the writing has slightly changed, as before it was just grey but they have used red on certain words on the back. FEATURES – Like in any other product this CD cover contains a barcode at the bottom of the case. They have included the record companies which he is signed to and involved copyright information. IMAGE – The image is once again of the artist, where before on the front cover all you can see is some of his face on the back you can see his entire face and some of his body. He is wearing black, which seems to be a recurring colour used throughout. The back cover has a list of the ‘Greatest Hits’ which are within this album, they are the same font as the title and they are grey which is the same colour font used throughout.

Front and Back Cover.. IMAGE- The image on the front cover of this album is very unusual. There is a woman, yet her face has been taken out from the image and replaced with something else. This draws you to the image as it is something unusual, but there are also bright colours used too. COLOUR – Within both the front and back cover bright colours have been used in order to make this album stand out. Oranges and red have been used together, these colours usually clash so by doing this it draws you to the cover. TEXT/TITILE – On the front cover there is no title for the album, on the back of the cover the writing is slanted. This makes it unusual and eye catching. There are unusual patterns used within this case. This makes it different from others, its individual.

Inside.. COLOUR – The bright colouring is once used again within the inside of the case. The red is still used, but they have used pinks and yellows within the inside of the case which aren’t used on the front. PICTURE – Like on the back cover they have used hands on the CD it’s self. This is obviously like a ‘motif’ where they use a same logo throughout their work in order to develop a logo and something to recognise them by. There are also animals used within the case, I think with the use of bright colours and the types of animals used this reminds me of it being quite African.

Front and Back Cover.. TITLE- Like on the previous digipack, there is no actual title. On the side of the case I have figured that the name is ‘The xx’. The front cover has the image ‘X’ on the front which could be used as the title for the album. This is different to any other cover as they have used an image in order to tell the people what the name is. COLOUR – The colourings used within this case are just black and white. This is very basic and to me suggests that the genre of this music is most probably ‘Rock’. The overall appearance of the case is pretty simple, through the use of the colouring, layout and overall appearance of the case. FEATURES – This album has a bar code on the back of the cover like most cases do, it also involves the record label of the album. IMAGE- There aren’t any proper images used within this cover, the symbol ‘X’ could be considered as the image though.

Inside.. IMAGE – Like the front there is no proper image, they have just re-used the ‘X’ image. Although it is pretty plain, they have made the ‘X’ seem creative by cutting it out, and placing paper behind the cut out where the booklet about the album is. COLOUR- The same colour theme is used within the inside too, there is no colouring. Just the use of black and white has been used. This is very boring because it’s just the same throughout and I don’t find it very appealing.
