Presentation transcript:

Predator/Prey Storyboard 8 th Grade Science 2014 You will NEED: 1.A blank lined sheet of notebook paper 2.Your notes about Populations and Ecosystems (vocabulary and relationships) 3.A pencil 4.Colored Pencils/Crayons (you can borrow mine) You will DO: 1.Identify the four most important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship 2.Create a four panel storyboard that includes pictures and descriptions to tell the story of a predator/prey relationship

DUE DATE You will have class time today and time after the quiz tomorrow to work on your storyboard The final storyboard is due this THURSDAY, April 17 th.

Design Your Story! Step 1: Read over your notes (you can also use the textbook to help you) Step 2: On your cause and effect paper, list the four (4) most important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship ◦ Make sure you include the starting population of all involved species, identification of the predator and the prey, how the populations change and the end result of the predator/prey relationship

Let’s do the First One Together… What are two species that could interact in an ecosystem? ◦ How many individuals of each species are present in the population?

Setting Up Your Storyboard Step 1: Fold a blank lined sheet of paper hot dog style toward the inner red line Step 2: Write “Predator/Prey Storyboard” on the red line Step 3: Fold paper to create 4 boxes (8 boxes total)- See example: Predator/Prey Storyboard

Design Your Story! Step 3: In the top four boxes on the front of your paper, draw an illustration to represent each of the four important things that happen during a predator/prey relationship ◦ These should be appropriate, meaningful, and COLORED Step 4: In the bottom four boxes, write a caption for each picture. ◦ This caption must be AT LEAST one complete sentence ◦ This caption must explain what is going on in the picture
