CIP Data Block Mapping Print Book to a Labeled Record or Display The Cataloging in Publication (CIP) Program serves the library community by cataloging books in advance of publication, facilitating acquisition and local cataloging. The new CIP data block also accommodates RDA implementation and the expansion of the CIP Program to include electronic books. The following graphic demonstrates how the new CIP data block maps to a labeled cataloging input screen or labeled record display. The elements shown are only a sample. Elements may be omitted or repeated (e.g. for multiple subjects) depending on your local system or local needs.
