What is bullying? O Bullying is when someone intimidates smaller or weaker people. This is usually done to get something they want. O There are several types of bullying. O Physical Bullying O Verbal Bullying O Cyber Bullying O Physical Bullying involves any form of physical harm to another person. O Verbal Bullying involves name-calling, teasing, insulting and any other type of verbal abuse. O Cyber Bullying is any type of bullying through electronic media. O Bullying is present in our lives and we need to be aware of it so that we can Stomp Out Bullying!

Physical Bullying O Physical bullying cause immediate physical harm. Physical bullying is when a child uses his or her body or object to harm another child’s body. Examples of physical bullying: O Kicking O Hitting O Punching

Verbal Bullying O Verbal bullying causes mental and emotional damage. Verbal bullying is a verbal attack, such as: O Insult O Teasing O Name-calling

Cyber Bullying O Cyber bullying is a new type of bullying. This type of bullying can cause mental and emotional damage to a child. Cyber bullying is similar to verbal bullying, but it occurs on electronic media, such as: O Internet (chat rooms, social networks, , ect.) O Over the phone O Text messages

Why do children bully? O There are several reasons why children become bullies: O To be or stay popular, O To be in charge, O For attention, O Because of jealousy, or O They might be being bullied themselves.

Why is bullying harmful to children? O Feel lonely O Feel unhappy O Feel frightened O Feel unsafe O Something must be wrong with them O Lose confidence O Don’t want to go to school O Make them sick

How to stop bullying. O There are several ways to stop bullying: O Ignore them O Tell them to stop O Hang in a group O Tell an adult you trust O If you don’t stop bullying then you are saying that bullying is okay.

Are you a bullying? O Do you ever bully someone else? Have you ever verbally insulted someone? Have you ever hurt someone physically? Have you ever said means things to someone over the internet? If so, then you have been a bully. You need to realize what bullying can do to some. Always treat others how you want to be treated.

Importance of Knowledge O It is extremely important to know about bullying in order to stop it. Being aware of what bullying is and the different types gives us the knowledge and power to stomp out bullying.
