1 What is bullying?

2 What Types? Bullying can take many forms including: Physical assault Teasing Making threats Name calling Cyber bullying Bullying can happen anywhere, at school, travelling to and from school, in sporting teams, between neighbours or in the workplace

3 Cyber Bullying Cyber bullying is one of the most popular ways of bullying and it is bullying through a mobile phone or the internet (e.g. , instant messaging or on social network sites) Cyber bullying is just as serious as any other type

4 Bullying includes: People calling you names
Hitting, pinching, biting, pushing and shoving Threats and intimidation Making abusive phone calls Sending you offensive texts Taking/damaging your belongings

5 Why do people bully? A person who uses strength or influence to harm or intimidate those who are weaker

7 Remember: The common link between reasons for why people bully others is that they don't have a full or happy life If you are being bullied or somebody you know is being bullied, remember that that person either doesn't know how to be nice or they have been a victim of bullying themselves If you have witnessed bullying, tell your parents/teacher what is going on and you could keep a diary of what you see

8 People That Get Bullied:
People being bullied can feel lonely, sick, different, unpopular and powerless It can also give them a hard time focusing which causes problems to their education Some people do not open up to anyone and keep things to themselves Some don’t like going to places like school, work and out and about because they think they will see the bully

9 What is anti-bullying? Anti-bullying is a campaign that helps to fight against and prevent bullying, while raising awareness of it It teaches children to not stand by and watch someone be bullied

10 Bullying is when you are mean to another person everyday over and over again

11 When you see bullying you should talk to an adult
Agree with your friends that you will make it clear to the bully that you do not like what they are doing

13 Facts! A large amount of children are bullied during their school life
Everyday 160,000 students skip school because they are worried about bullying Girls bully more in groups than individually Boys are least likely to report being bullied

Empowers children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and other people unique Helps to make every child feel valued and included in school, able to be themselves and live without a fear of bullying Encourage parents and carers to work with their school and talk to their children about bullying

15 Stop Bullying! Stand up for people Take an anti-bullying pledge
Talk about what happened and what can help Talk to trusted adults Speak to the head teacher if it gets out of hand Write a blog, page or letter to let people know - “Stand up, don’t be silent”

16 Think before you act because your actions have consequences
Think before you act because your actions have consequences. When you have bullied someone, it could effect you in the future
