Presentation transcript:

In the last few years, goverments have recognized the dangers of global warming. They have realized that it is important to find other sources of energy instead of burning fossil fuels. Many countries are trying to cut their carbon dioxide emissions over time, to reduce global warming.

There are tight controls on factories and how much pollution they can release into the air. Goverments can fine companies if they release too many harmful gases into the atmosphere.

► Save electricity! ► Use your own energy! ► Recycle!

This label tells you what kind of machine you buy. Low energy machines save up to 80% of electricity. Low energy bulbs use less electricity and last longer than others. Switch off computers and TV after using them, standby position wastes 15% of its functioning consume. Remember to switch off lights when you leave the room.

Go cycling instead using the car whenever possible, as long as it is safer to do so! Go walking to school or close plases. It is good to use your store of energy.

Each tonne of glass recycled saves 24 litres of fuel. Recycling platic and cans require less energy than producing them. Organic waste can be use to make fertilizer for plants. Recycling paper saves trees and they help absorbing carbon dioxide.

Power station ► A building or group of buildings with facilities for the manufacture of goods. Factory ► A burning mass of material, as a forest. Fire ► A mean in or by which someone travels. Vehicle ► A municipality of high rank, usually based on population. City ► A chemical derived from petroleum or natural gas. Petrochemical
