. I chose this image because it uses complementary colors to make the image ‘pop’, the difference between the brightness of the water and the duck also adds to this effect The lighting in this photo gives it a range of brightness, from black to white. Contrast: I chose this picture because there is a value. There is a shape in the sea that looks like a bug also I can see the circles around the shape of the bug, which is very interesting.

I chose this image because it shows repetition, but not a pattern or rhythm. The window frame repeats its shape on both sides. As you can see the arc is repeated many times throughout the photo, this is a clear example of repetition. This picture is also an example of rhythm. The bottles in this picture are repeated, this is an example of repetition, and it looks pretty. So I picked it.

I chose this picture because it shows a natural pattern, I think it might be a plant of some type, or maybe it’s an animal? Either way, it looks cool, and the repetition is used in a way that is predictable and static, but interesting. It’s also sort of like inception, a pattern within a pattern within another pattern. The repetition of these shapes gives the impression that the pattern goes on forever. I like this picture because it has an interesting pattern, and the black and white makes it mesmerizing by adding contrast and using plenty of repetition.

I chose this picture because I took it, and because you can tell that if you touched the beetle, it would feel bumpy, and you can tell that the sand is, well, sandy. The reason I chose this picture is that you can see the actual surface; this gives you an idea of how the surface feels like in real life. This picture had been heavily edited. It’s a wonderful example of an image with contrast, repetition and texture. It also follows the rule of thirds.
