The Civil War By Kody Deda

When it happened & why it happened On July 21rst of 1861, the Confederacy, a group of 11 states that seceded from the United States, bombed Fort Sumter and started the Civil War. Why? Many people think it was because of slavery, well it was in a way, but it was also because the South believed the States did not have as many rights as it should. The war ended in 1865 with the United States victorious.

The People Involved… During , America was divided into two major countries. These were known as the Confederacy and the Union…

Confederate States

Union States 12. Michigan 13. Minnesota 14. Nevada 15. New Hampshire 16. New York 17. New Jersey 18. Ohio 19. Oregon 20. Pennsylvania 21. Rhode Island 22. Vermont 23. West Virginia

Border States These states kept slavery but did not join the Confederacy!

Alliances

Transportation

Weapons During the War CANNONS! PISTOLS! RIFLES! SWORDS!

Rifles Used from by Confederate and Union Soldiers. Muzzle loaded musket type. A trained soldier should have been able to fire 2-3 shots every minute.

Swords 1850 Army Officer Sword Officers had swords but they also had bayonets on their rifles that they used for much of the close quarters combat. A type of bayonet that may have been used in the Civil War.

Pistols

Cannons The Napoleon was probably the most used cannon during the civil war because of its effectiveness, it also had a 12 pound shot. This was a very light cannon during the time and could be transported more easily than most others, it was also used in both the Confederacy and the Union.

Presidents of the Civil War Abraham Lincoln was the president of the Union. Jefferson Davis was the president of the Confederacy.
