9 Battle of bull run - July 21 st 1861 Located -Occoquan river union-Brigadier general Irvin McDowell confederate-Brigadier general Beauregard Causalities union- 2896 confederate-1982 Significance -Both sides realized it would be a bloody battle also it would take longer than expected

12 April 9 th 1865 Located - Virginia Union- general Grant Confederate- general Lee Casualties union – 164 Confederate – 500 killed 27,800 surrendered Significance – general lee finally surrendered to the union (end of civil war)

16 * April 9 th 1865 general lee sent a letter agreeing to surrender at 11:50 am *located -Virginia *Union – general Grant Confederate- General Lee *600,000 to 700,000 people were dead at the end of it all

17 This helped America because it brought the two states together to make one nation. Also if union didn’t win slaves would most likely still exist and Jefferson Davis would have been the president in the late 1800s which would of most likely changed the course of the presidents we had in the past!
