What were the main weapons and vehicles used during the Civil War? Edged Weapons Minie Ball Artillery Small Arms

Edged Weapons Bayonets, sabers, swords, short swords, cutlasses, bowie knives, pikes, and lances are all considered as edged weapons All of the edged weapons were very unique but some of them were hard to master like the sabers Sabers, which are cavalry swords, are a legitimate weapon of the mounted service and dangerous in the hands of a trained trooper At first it was hard to handle because it was 42 inches until they cut it down to 36 inches and were reasonably effective

Minie Ball The minie ball was a conical- cylindrical soft lead bullet, slightly smaller than the intended firearm barrel’s bore, with 4 exterior grease- filled grooves and a conical hollow in it’s base This helped soldiers reload their rifled muskets faster and fire them more accurately

Artillery There were 2 general types of artillery used during the civil war which are Smoothbores and Rifles Smoothbores include Howitzers and Guns It was made based on the type of metal used, typically bronze and iron It was used for longer range and bigger “BOOM”

Small Arms Any weapons that is smaller than a cannon and can be carried by a soldier was known as a small arm During the Civil War small arms included muskets, which were smoothbore, long- barrelled shoulder arms; rifles, shoulder guns with spiral grooves cut into the inner surface of the barrel; carbines, short- barrelled rifles; and handguns, including pistols and revolvers

Ironclad and other Vehicles The Ironclad was a ship that was made out of iron instead of wood which means that it was more protective against gunfire's and sometimes it could take hits from cannon balls It was the best “war ship” during the civil war. The other vehicles were wagons and horses.

Civil War Facts (books vs website) Books There were more than 186,000 African Americans who fought in the Civil War. Website (Wikipedia) There were more than 220,000 African Americans who fought in the Civil War As you can see books are probably more better than websites when you do a research or just wanting to know
