Product Design Capstone Blaine Lilly | The Ohio State University | February 2013 ME 5684/5685: Product Design Capstone

Product Design Capstone Blaine Lilly | The Ohio State University | February 2013 The basic idea This capstone experience will be based on ME 5682, Product Design Engineering. During the first semester, you will be sitting in lecture with students taking 5682, taking the same exams, but you will work in separate lab sections, in groups of four. Students in 5682 will finish their product design at the end of the Autumn Semester – you will continue to refine your design through Spring Semester, in ME 5685.

Product Design Capstone Blaine Lilly | The Ohio State University | February 2013 Course goals The goals of this two–semester experience are: To give you a thorough grounding in product design and product engineering; To allow you to take a product concept from early idea through to functioning prototype; To work closely with OSU’s Tech Commercialization Office to come up with a patent–ready concept and prototype.

Product Design Capstone Blaine Lilly | The Ohio State University | February 2013 Details, details… This option is only being offered Autumn (5684) – Spring (5685). It will be limited to 40 students, max. If you decide to opt out after Autumn Semester, you can still count 5684 as a technical elective. You cannot opt in at the end of Autumn Semester – you must declare your intent at the beginning of Autumn. You may count one hour of the total toward your technical electives.
