FAIRTRADE FOUNDATION OCR Nationals in ICT Unit 1 ICT Skills for Business AO6

Task 6: Create and use a simple database Assessment Objective 6: Select and use tools and facilities in database software to enter, sort and search for information for business purposes using a realistic business database provided by the centre In this task, you will update and use the provided database called Fairtrade Packs. This database contains details of people that have booked the packs so far. You will enter, edit and delete data appropriate to the needs of the Fair Trade committee. You will search for data relevant to the packs, sort data and print reports and labels.

Task 6: Create and use a simple database Use the activities to produce evidence for your assignment. Database required for this task. To achieve Pass level you need only complete parts A and B of this task. A i) enter details of a new order as follows, M Khan, 31 Hastings Close, York, YO4 2TT, age 14 A ii) Amend details for T Park, her new surname is Forrest A iii) A Smith no longer wants a pack, delete the details for this customer. A iv) Produce a printout of the edited database table. Annotate the printout to show the changes made.

Task 6: Create and use a simple database B. i) The Fairtrade Foundation have a special event taking place in Leeds, you will need to search for all the members you have in the database that live in Leeds. For Merit and Distinction levels this query should also sort the data in ascending order of Surname. B. ii) Create address labels from the previous query so that you can send out letters informing people of the event. (Merit and Distinction only)

Task 6: Create and use a simple database C i) The Fairtrade Foundation have contacted you again telling you that they have another event taking place, but this time it will be in Durham. They will be running workshops which will be split into the following age groups. 20–29, and They have requested the following details, a printed report showing the name, telephone number and school, grouped into age groups of each customer you have in your database. C ii) Print out a report for each of the queries you have created in section c i) above, use a variety of different templates for each report you create.

Task 6: Create and use a simple database To achieve Merit level you must also sort on at least one field and create one report. To achieve Distinction level you must create a second query using more than one criterion. You will create one report in the form of address labels and a variety of others in different formats. (Evidence could be the annotated printout of the updated database table, the query and report print(s) and screenshots of the query criteria. Alternatively the saved electronic file could be supplied.)
