INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT) TOPIC

SURPRISE OF THE DAY Students who participates well in today’s lesson Will be taken to the school’s new computer lab, to try their hands on the freshly installed computers.

INTRODUCTION The World has seen a lot of developments over the last century, and the developments have evolved so rapidly that it has affected almost every sphere of life, hence leaving mankind with no option than to match up with the fast pace of development. One remarkable area of development is in the area of Information and Communications Technology, and as such most of our energies must be directed to the study of ICT.

OBJECTIVES Explain the concept of ICT and its related terminologies. Describe the information processing cycle. Identify the various devices used in the information processing cycle.

Definition of ICT, related basic concepts and terminologies ICT Information and Communications Technology ICTs Information and Communication Technologies Data :This is unprocessed information or Raw facts. Information :This is said to be processed Data. e-Learning :The use of technology in learning.

Information Processing Cycle Stage 1 - Receiving data (Input operation) Stage 2 - Processing data (Processing operation) Stage 3 - Display information (Output operation) Stage 4 - Storing information (Storage operation)
