  It is called a “hero’s journey”, it shows all the phases of the journey that the hero goes through.  Throughout the phases, the hero changes and learns new things throughout the journey.  Throughout the journey, the hero may go through some or even many trials, of which that might change him/her. What kind of Journey is Pi going through in the story?

  The information displayed in the rest of this slideshow is my work, except for the pictures that will show a cited page at the end of the slideshow. The Rest of the Slideshow are summarized events of Pi’s journey

  When Pi’s dad get s a better job opening for a zoo in Canada, he decides to permanently move there, so the family packs and leaves India. The Call To Adventure

  Pi doesn’t want to leave India, he debates on leaving with his father. He knows that he has to go with his family, so he leaves. Refusal of the Quest

  Before Pi leaves India, his girlfriend gives him her red wristband. It is a token to remind Pi to came back to India for her. Supernatural Aid

  Pi finally leaves India on the ship with his family.  The threshold guarding is the ship, because once you board it, you can’t go back. Crossing the First Threshold

  The point of no return is when Pi gets lost at sea, with a lifeboat. He is probably hundreds of miles away from India, and is lost back. Belly of the Whale

  When Pi loses his family in the shipwreck  The hyena eats the zebra and the orangutan.  Pi learns to catch fish, however, it’s a challenge.  Pi lands on a carnivorous island later on his adventure Road of Trials

  Pi has feelings for the tiger (also named Richard Parker) and basically tames it.  He learns that he really loves Richard Parker, and that they are companions for the adventure. Meeting With the Godess

  The island that Pi lands on is great! It has everything that he needs to live off of.  It has abundant resources, and clear, fresh water.  There are hundreds of cute meerkats to accompany him. Woman as Temptress

  Pi learns that he faces something that has complete power over him; the weather.  If the waves at sea from the weather are violent, he’ll most likely de, but the weather was calm for most of the journey. Atonement With the Father

  Pi experience spiritual death when he thinks about his family. Which puts him out into stress and depression.  Throughout this phase of Pi’s adventure, Pi is distracted by this spiritual death, and it slows down his journey.  Pi loses sight of why he needs to get out of the ocean because of apotheosis. Apotheosis

  Pi finally gets what he wanted; land. He lands on the shore of Canada and has finally escaped the ocean.  Previously on his journey, it might have seemed that the island Pi landed on was his ultimate boon, but learning later that it was carnivorous, he went back to search for his goal. The Ultimate Boon

  There are people that spot Pi ou ton the beach, and they help him out, but he refuses to leave Richard Parker. Refusal of the Return

  Pi escapes the danger of his low health, and is rushed to a hospital in Canada.  Japanese interviewers come and ask Pi about how the ship sunk. Magic Flight

  Throughout the journey, Pi believed that God helped him, he is a religious man.  Pi believes that there is one universal God throughout his religious experiences as a Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. Rescue from Without

  Pi tries to get Richard Parker to come back to him, but he is long gone.  He returns to India and marries the girl that gave him the wristband, and takes her to live with him in Canada. Crossing the Reutrn Threshold

  Because of his experience in India and Canada he was able to get a great occupation, and he could visit India whenever he wanted to. Master of Two Worlds

  This adventure has tested his relationship with his God, he knew that he could have died long ago on the ship with his family.  His journey ends by living with a beautiful family and everything that he wanted, and has no fear of death. Freedom to Live
