1 The Hero’s Journey

2 Ordinary World Aladdin is a “street rat” living outside the palace walls. He has to steal his food to survive and his only friend is a monkey named Abu.

3 Call to Adventure When Aladdin meets Jasmine in the marketplace and is arrested for “kidnapping” her.

4 Refusal of the Call When Aladdin is in the prison he begins to doubt his ability to be with Jasmine.

5 Supernatural Aid Supernatural Aids: Magic Lamp Genie Flying Carpet

6 Crossing the Threshold
Aladdin uses the genie and wishes to be a prince so that he can impress the princess Jasmine. When he does this he associates with Jafar who is anything but thrilled to welcome the new prince.

7 The Belly of the Whale Aladdin tries to impress Jasmine by being a new prince. She doesn’t know that he is the same boy from the marketplace, but she isn’t interested in conceited princes which is what Aladdin becomes.

8 Road of Trials Trying to make the decision if he should tell Jasmine who he really is Escaping the palace guards that Jafar sets on him Breaking the trance that Jafar set on Jasmine’s dad Making the choice between being a prince or being true to himself

9 The Meeting with the Goddess
Jasmine shows him that she doesn’t want a prince, she just wants someone to love her. She shows him that she loves him for him and never to change himself.

10 Meeting with the Temptress
Jafar threatens and attempts to scare away Aladdin with the help of his bird Iago.

11 Apotheosis When Aladdin is battling with Jafar and decides to save Jasmine and his friends instead of himself, he puts himself at risk to save her.

12 The Ultimate Boon To be married to Princess Jasmine.

13 Master of Two Worlds Knows how to be himself while being with Jasmine.

14 Freedom to Live Lives with Jasmine in the Palace without having to be a prince.
