Ecosystems To know what an ecosystem is and be able to describe how its parts are connected An ecosystem is group of living and non living things in an area. The different parts of an ecosystem depend on each other and adapt to survive. Ecosystems can be any size from a small garden pond to the huge Amazon Rainforest.

Water Animals Climate Plants Humans Rock Soil Sun Make a double page copy of this ecosystem map in your book. Add at least 12 links of your own. Each part should be linked in. People use soil to farm Plants grow in soil

Water Animals Climate Plants Humans Rock Soil Sun People use soil to farm Plants grow in soil

Extension Tropical Rainforest-Amazon Deciduous Forest - UK How can one part of an ecosystem affect the rest? a. Which of forest do you think has the best climate for growing plants? Why? b. How does having lots of plants affect the other parts of the ecosystem? c. How would the other parts of the ecosystem be affected if the trees were cut down? Coniferous Forest - Finland

Homework Collect a photo of an ecosystem in the UK and label it to show how different parts of it are being affected by each other. Trees grow here because of the sunny climate and the shelter from the building Birds live here because they roost in the trees and pick food up from the litter we drop. The tarmac stops rain from soaking into the soil and blocks plants from growing We choose to sit here because of the climate, it is warm and sunny
