Title: 9-Week Progress Check
Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Nibbana

Reading Log Basics Reading Logs are usually due on Mondays or the first day of the week Most logs you have two weeks. To earn full points, you must read at least: 200 minutes per log (2 weeks) - 1 st period 175 minutes per log (2 weeks) - 5 th, 6 th, 7 th periods Once set up, Reading Logs can be found on my wiki (more to come about that) You should read a novel (or part of one) for each log. You may use textbooks, magazines, appropriate internet articles, newspapers and many other sources to complete your allotted time. Sorry, texting tweets and FB don’t count unless you count the time to read a linked article.

How to fill out a Reading Log… Book TitleAuthorDateMinutes Read Escaping the Giant Wave Peg Kehret8/2815 Escaping the Giant Wave Peg Kehret8/2915 World History McMillian8/3015 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone J.K. The BCR… For each log, you will be given an article/short story to read OR you will be able to choose your own reading. If you are given an article, you will be assigned a BCR that correlates with it. If you are able to choose your own reading, you will be given a BCR that could fit most things you would choose to read. Make sure to add the article or short story into your Reading Log as part of your reading.

Your Parent’s Homework… Parents are asked to write a note and sign the Reading Log. Statements can be short such as “I read ______’s BCR” or “Good job _____________.” Parents can also choose to write a note to you or the teacher. Please let your parents know that I may not read their “homework” right away, so they should not write something that is time-sensitive such as “____________ will not be in school Friday.” Both the parent statement and signature is graded, so YOU need to make sure they do it! Talk to your teachers if there is a problem.

Filling Out the Rubric I read the minimum amount of minutes or more 10 I completed the BCR Response using the A(CE) 2 Formula. 15 I edited my work for CUPS and wrote clearly or typed my response 5 My Parent(s)/Guardian(s) wrote a reflection on my book or my written response. 5 My Parent(s)/Guardian(s) signed the Reading Log 2.5 This rubric is filled out 2.5 Total Score/Grade /40 RUBRIC: Please fill out this list before turning in your assignment.
