RULES AND PROCEDURES Rules For a safe and great learning environment please… Respect yourself, your peers and property. Use a quiet voice in the library. To preserve the environment, please no food, gum, candy, or drinks in the library. Do your part; keep the library clean by cleaning up after yourself, pushing in your chair, and throwing away all scraps of paper. No Electronics! The library is a place for fun and creativity. Make good choices! Consequences Students violating any of the above may lose library privileges for the day or a more extended period of time. Serious or repeated violations will be handled by an Administrator and will result in disciplinary action. 1 st incident – correction requested 2 nd incident – warning given 3 rd incident – referral to office

LIBRARY PROCEDURES Entering the library Sharing the space in the library is easy. We all know that we need to keep low voices so others can work. Just remember that we share the library space. Enter quietly, if alarm is activated please STOP During lunch, please check in your bag pack on the circulation desk. Be Respectful and Responsible. Exiting the library Just remember that WE Share, so please help maintain library clean and organize. Clear the tables of all materials. Push in chairs at your table. Smile and say Thank You at checkout Help others if you can STOP if the alarm is activated as you leave.

CIRCULATION Things to know about checking out items at Dymally Three items at a time 14 day loan period and 1 renewal Reference books and magazines do not circulate To check out a book, go to the circulation desk with your book(s) and ID card (must have ID card to check out a book). Absolutely No Student will be allowed to borrow books with another student’s ID card. Check out Limitations 1 overdue item or 1 fine You may get one item only 2 overdue items or 1 overdue and 1 fine You may not check out

RETURNS Return item by the due date. Please return all materials in the book drop at the main office or circulation desk. Fines & fees Overdue$0.10 per day, per item, up to $5.00 maximum Lost Date Due Card $0.50 Lost item or Damaged book Cost of Replacing it.

COMPUTER USE IN THE LIBRARY An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) must be completed and returned by any student wanting to use the computers. Computers are to be used for educational purposes only All students may print their work by permission only. Printer copies are $0.05 per page. Mrs. Carbone or Ms. Franco will assign students to a computer.

LIBRARY LAYOUT Fiction Fiction books are invented by the author. They are organize by author’s last name and then title.

NON FICTION Nonfiction books contain facts about real things, people, events and places. Nonfiction books are organized by their subject. Call numbers (spine labels) range from and have the author’s last name with the numbers. The numbers on the top row of the label designate the subject (880 Greek Literature) The 3 letters designate the authors last name. PLA - Plato

REFERENCE THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT WHICH AIDS PATRONS IN USING THE LIBRARY, HELPS WITH RESEARCH PROBLEMS, AND ASSISTS IN LOCATING INFORMATION. MATERIALS SUCH AS DICTIONARIES, ENCYCLOPEDIAS, ATLASES AND BIOGRAPHY GUIDES ARE FOUND IN REFERENCE.

RESHELVING CART WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH THE BOOKS YOU ARE USING, DO NOT PUT THEM BACK ON THE SHELVES. PLACE THEM ON THE RESHELVING CART LOCATED BY THE BIOGRAPHIES ALONG THE CENTER WELL BOOKCASES.
