4 Monday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday : 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. *Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. *Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday from class (WITH A PASS FROM YOUR TEACHER) During PAL as needed *Shortened Library schedule

5 STUDENTS MUST ENTER THE MEDIA CENTER QUIETLY. STUDENT SHOULD FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. STUDENTS SHOULD BE RESPECTFUL TO TEACHERS, CLASSMATES, AND VISITORS. STUDENTS ARE NOT TO MUTILIATE ANY BOOKS HOUSED IN THE MEDIA CENTER. STUDENTS ARE TO LEAVE THE BOOKS NEATLY AT THE EDGE OF THE SHELVES. STUDENTS ARE TO PUSH CHAIR IN ON THE RIGHT CORNER OF TABLE. STUDENTS ARE TO PUSH CHAIR IN ON THE RIGHT CORNER OF TABLE.

6  The library is for research, study and reading  Good library users are doing something productive and non- disruptive  The library is used by individuals and classes  Students: need a pass during class time – except from reading class  “A capacity and taste for reading gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others.”  - Abraham Lincoln

7  No food, drink or gum is allowed in the library except by prior arrangement. Water bottles must be kept away from all computers including laptops  No outside electronic devices including audio or video players, cell phones and pagers in the library  Put newspapers and other waste paper in a recycle bin

8  Return all library materials in the book drop located in the circulation desk  Do not return books used in the library to the shelves after using them.  Leave them on a table or put them in the drop box for library staff to re- shelve

9 FICTION - BOOKS THAT ARE NOT TRUE ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY AUTHOR’S LAST NAME. FIC- FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE AUTHOR’S NAME.

10 BOOKS WITH FACTUAL INFORMATION. ARRANGED ON THE SHELVES BY CALL NUMBER. EXAMPLE: 004 004 EDE EDE

11 BOOKS ABOUT A PERSON’S LIFE ARRANGEDALPHABETICALLY CALL NUMBER IS 92 PLUS THE FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE SUBJECT OF THE BOOK

12 THESE BOOKS CANNOT BE CHECKED OUT OF THE MEDIA CENTER. ALMANACS ENCYCLOPEDIAS DICTIONARIES ATLAS

13 ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT GAZETTE COURIER DEMOCRAT POST DISPATCH Can be used for class assignments – only from recycle box. Please do not cut up current papers on the counter.

14  FICTION BOOKS (A-Z)  NON FICTION BOOKS (000-999)  REFERENCE BOOKS  MAGAZINES  NEWSPAPERS  CIRCULATION DESK  DESTINY (LIBRARY CATALOG)  INDEPENDENT WORK AREAS  INFORMAL READING AREAS

15 Click on *Internet Explorer*. This will open two pages. One is for the Dardanelle District Homepage, and the other is for library book search. Notice the tabs at the top. This is how you will navigate back and forth from one page to another. Please do not close out a browser window. If you need to open a new page, you can either open a whole page, or a new tab.

16  Email use in the library is allowed only for educational purposes  Do not print from the computer unless you have asked for permission  You must follow all acceptable use policies of the school district – you and your parents signed this form at the beginning of the year.

18 YOU CAN RECOGNIZE AR BOOKS BY THE BLUE LABEL ON THE SPINE. THIS LABEL INDICATES THAT THE BOOK IS AR – CHECK FOR READING LEVEL, POINT VALUE, AND QUIZ NUMBER

19 DON’T FORGET THERE ARE GREAT BOOKS IN THE NON-FICTION SECTIONS OF THE LIBRARY!!
