Principles of Geography Analyzing Mapped Patterns

4 Kinds of Mapped Patterns 1. Hierarchy –System of ranks, from important to least important –Think of it as a pyramid, less on top, more on bottom 2. Accessibility –How easy it is to reach a place –Mostly deals with transportation and physical barriers to transportation 3. Complementarity –The closer things are, the more likely they will interact…the further things are, the less likely they will interact (movement) 4. Diffusion –The spread of people, ideas and things in certain directions over a period of time

Activity: Examining Patterns Complete the activity sheet provided regarding the 4 mapped patterns BEFORE you leave. THIS IS A “TEST” so you work by yourself (normal testing conditions apply) DUE: Movement Skills Worksheet (handed out yesterday)
