WLA Updates November 2015

Communication

WLA Foundations We want to thank you ALL for supporting our school through the WLA Foundation. 22 Chromebooks 30 iPad minis with cases We also received an additional $20,000 to purchase: $3,000 for Math supplies $3,000 for Science supplies $1,000 for Art Supplies $2,000 for Professional Development Training $500 for PE $500 for Communication Signs $10,000 for both English and Spanish books for our classrooms. Thank you for your support!

WLA Foundations Highlights - We raised over $30,000 for World Language Academy last year from parents like you! - Foundations donated $20,000 in cash towards teacher training, educational programs and other school improvements. - New Teacher/Staff Grant Program (four grants, up to $2,000 each for educators seeking to fund innovative student programs) - Fundraising efforts to date: Fun Walk=$ , Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night=$100.60, Spiritwear=$ We would love to have more volunteers to better support ongoing events at all three World Language Academy campuses. Mark your calendars: Secret Santa - Dec , 2015, Run Road Atlanta - Jan , Spring International Festival - April 30, 2016

WLA School Council It is time to elect two new School Council members for the school year. The responsibilities of school council members include (but are not limited to) the following: 1.Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues; 2. Regularly participate in school council meetings (meets quarterly); 3. Participate in information and training programs; 4. Act as link between the school council and the community; 5. Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community; and 6. Work to improve student achievement and performance.
