Spain builds an American Empire 1.Which voyages gave Europeans new knowledge of the world? The voyages of Columbus, Vespucci, Balboa, and Magellan provided new knowledge. 2. What was the main goal of Cortez in his conquests? The main goal of Cortes was great wealth, such as gold and silver.

What area did Coronado explore? Throughout much of present-day Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
