Sitting Volleyball Common misconception –Sitting Volleyball is a disability sport played by people in wheelchairs In fact Sitting Volleyball is –A fast and exciting sport, played sitting on the floor by men and women of all ages and players with and without a disability

Why Sitting Volleyball? Increasing demand for the sport from a range of groups: –Schools (mainstream & special education) –Disability groups –Multi-sport groups –Military and recovery charities There are a number of reasons for this but the main ones are: –Increased demand for inclusive/disability sports – SV perfect! –Easily adaptable –Little equipment required (cheap!)

Sitting Volleyball Basics The only key things for a game of sitting volleyball are: 2 teams A net / divide A ball / round object Players ‘sitting’ down Keep the ball off the ground

Adapting the Game The STEP process can be used to adapt the game. From a basic format, adaptions can be made to move it towards conventional sitting volleyball: –Vary the ball –Encourage more technique –Encourage 3 touches –Introduce more rules/conditions
