The brief characteristic. The Montreal is situated in the south of Canada in province Quebec. The largest economic and cultural center of Canada is located on the river St.Lawrence. The majority of the population make French-Canadians. On social structure of the population Montreal is divided so: richmen live on mountain Mon-Royal, and working areas - to the east from Mountain - on a so-called Plateau.

Architecture. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Northern America. Unlike many North American cities, Montreal in a significant part is built up by solid buildings. Many buildings have granite facing, sculptural ornaments. Unfortunately, over the city centre is dominated with skyscrapers – headquarters of banks and offices of the various companies.
