Grading Point System GPA SCALEFINAL GRADE POINTSANNUAL COURSES - MULTIPLY BY 2.5SEMESTER COURSES - MULTIPLY BY 5 A A = 4 POINTS10 POINTS20 POINTS B B = 3 POINTS7.5 POINTS15 POINTS C C = 2 POINTS5 POINTS10 POINTS D D = 1 POINT2.5 POINTS5 POINTS F 0-0.9F = 0 POINTS0 POINTS Final Grade Calculation for Annual Course: (______x2.5) + (______x2.5) + (______x2.5)* + (______x2.5)* = ________/10=________ Final Grade Calculation for Semester Course: (______x5) + (______x5) = ________/10=________ Unweighted GPA calculation: (Sum of all final grade points)/(# of credits taken) = __________  5 points must be earned 2 nd semester

The Ten Point Rule  Students must have at least 10 points to pass a class  10 points = D  Five points must be earned between the third and forth quarter for an annual course.  Semester courses work the same way, 10 points are required to pass

10 Point Rule Examples 10 point Rule Examples Class A (1.0 credit) A B C B points = 3.0 B Class B (1.0 credit) A B F D points, BUT student only has 2.5 points in 2 nd semester, therefore they failed the course

10 Point Rule Examples 10 point Rule Examples Class C (0.5 credit) C B points = 2.5 B Class D (0.5 credit) D F 5 05 points = 0.5 F

 There are various combinations, but overall, you must achieve the points needed to pass a class.  Keep in mind passing a class with the minimum of 10 points gets you a “D” which is a GPA of a 1.0  IN ORDER TO GRADUATE YOU NEED A 2.0!!! Grading Point System

Course Recovery: Adult Education  If you have already failed a state required course (or fail one in your senior year), you will not receive a diploma from the state of Florida  Therefore, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you enroll into the Adult Education program to recover the course ASAP. However, you cannot attend Summer School or Night School without a “Credit Certification for Adult Education” Form that your counselor gives you. Please note: these requirements are for the cohort only!

Failing Courses  If you are at risk for failing ANY class between January – June (including electives), you will be placed on Academic Probation and banned from all Senior Events.  This includes walking in the graduation ceremony

Academic Probation  Students may be placed on Academic Probation for the following reasons:  GPA “at risk”- at or below a 2.0 unweighted AND/OR  Failing REQUIRED courses AND/OR  Attendance AND/OR  Referrals  Students on Academic Probation will not be allowed to participate in activities and school events Please note: these requirements are for the cohort only!

GPA Myth Buster  Your GPA NEVER “freezes”  End this myth ASAP  GPAs are calculated at the end of every semester January, June, August  Universities WILL LOOK at your end-of-the-year GPA  Do not put yourself at risk Please note: these requirements are for the cohort only!

from University Admissions office
