5 Registration: Factors to Consider GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS (15-16 cohort year)

6 o English: 4 credits o Math: 4 credits  Alg 1, Geo, + 2 additional credits o Science: 3 credits  Biology + 2 additional credits o Social Studies: 3 credits  World History, American History, American Government/Economics o HOPE (PE): 1 credit or waiver o Fine Art/Eligible Practical Art: 1 credit o Electives: 8 credits o Must complete an online course for credit Note: 2.0 Un-weighted GPA & Testing Requirements 24 Credits Required for Graduation

7 Scholar Diploma Designation Standard Diploma requirements plus: In addition to meeting the 24-credit standard high school diploma requirements, a student must: o Earn 1 credit in Algebra 2 (must pass EOC) o Earn 1 credit in Statistics or equally rigorous math o Pass the Geometry & Biology EOC o Earn 1 credit in Chemistry or Physics o Earn 1 credit in a course equally rigorous to Chemistry or Physics o Pass the American History EOC o Earn 2 credits in the same World Language o 1 credit in AP or dual enrollment course

8 Merit Diploma Designation: Standard diploma requirements plus: In addition to meeting the 24-credit standard diploma requirements, a student must: o Attain one or more industry certifications o Indicated on the registration form

9 o 2.0 cumulative unweighted GPA o Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) o Algebra 1 EOC or pass PERT math test o Take Geo, Bio, and American History EOCs (plus Algebra 2 EOC, if enrolled) o Must take 1 online course Graduation GPA & Testing Requirements (for 15-16 cohort)

12 Promotion (as of 3/1/16) To be classified as a SOPHOMORE by the start of the 2016-2017 school year a student must have: Earned a minimum of 5 credits in grade 9 and Must have earned a cumulative GPA of 1.0 on an un- weighted 4.0 scale. * CONSIDER ADULT EDUCATION or LCVS IF STUDENT NEEDS TO MAKE UP CREDITS * Only students who have received a D or an F may retake the same course. Students must earn a C or better to replace the grade in the cumulative GPA.

17 STATE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM (SUS) o Some schools use LHS weighted GPA while others recalculate GPA on academic courses only o AP and DE courses weighted a full point; Honors weighted ½ point o 3.0 academic GPA plus SAT or ACT scores OR o 2.5-2.99 academic GPA and SAT CR 460, Math 460, Writing 440 or ACT Reading 19, Math 19, Writing 18 o To help increase the chance of admission, students should strive to go above and beyond

18 SUS Minimum Course Requirements o English: 4 credits o Math: 4 credits (min: Alg I, Geom, Alg II, and higher ) o Science: 3 credits o Social Studies: 3 credits o World Language: 2 credits in the same language o Electives: 2 credits (academic or approved SUS electives) o 2 elective credits from any academic area, AP course, or Fine Arts o Up to 1 credit of ROTC o Total: 18 credits o Minimum does NOT guarantee admission into all Florida Public Universities

23 Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program Can be used at a Florida public or private community college, university, or voc. school Everyone who meets the criteria (and applies) receives the scholarship 3 ways to qualify: Academic Scholars Award Medallion Scholars Award Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award
